A Level 2 Inspection is a more in-depth safety assessment than a standard annual check. This inspection is required when there have been system changes or when you need a detailed, certified evaluation.

  • Everything that’s covered in a Level 1 Inspection, plus more.

  • Inspection of accessible parts of the chimney interior and exterior, including attics, crawl spaces, and basements.

  • Video (camera) scan of the flue liner to visually examine the internal surfaces, joints, and liner condition.

  • Evaluation of clearances from combustible materials in those accessible areas.

  • No destructive or demolition work required: we don’t tear down walls or remove major structures.

  • You’ve made a change to the system (e.g., switched fuel types, changed or relined the flue, or added/replaced an appliance).

  • You’re buying or selling your property — a Level 2 inspection is often required during a real estate transaction.

  • There’s been a possible damage event: a chimney fire, building fire, lightning strike, or other external impacts.

Why It Matters:

A Level 2 inspection gives you confidence and documentation. It reveals hidden issues that a basic inspection might miss, especially after changes to the system or events that may have stressed your chimney. You’ll get a detailed condition report (often with photos or video), which is especially helpful for safety, insurance, or home-sale situations.
