A Level 2 Inspection is a more in-depth safety assessment than a standard annual check. This inspection is required when there have been system changes or when you need a detailed, certified evaluation.
Everything that’s covered in a Level 1 Inspection, plus more.
Inspection of accessible parts of the chimney interior and exterior, including attics, crawl spaces, and basements.
Video (camera) scan of the flue liner to visually examine the internal surfaces, joints, and liner condition.
Evaluation of clearances from combustible materials in those accessible areas.
No destructive or demolition work required: we don’t tear down walls or remove major structures.
You’ve made a change to the system (e.g., switched fuel types, changed or relined the flue, or added/replaced an appliance).
You’re buying or selling your property — a Level 2 inspection is often required during a real estate transaction.
There’s been a possible damage event: a chimney fire, building fire, lightning strike, or other external impacts.
Why It Matters:
A Level 2 inspection gives you confidence and documentation. It reveals hidden issues that a basic inspection might miss, especially after changes to the system or events that may have stressed your chimney. You’ll get a detailed condition report (often with photos or video), which is especially helpful for safety, insurance, or home-sale situations.
